Silk was born Fredericton located in New Brunswick Canada. Silk is the daughter of Peter Silk, a professor and Ilkay who was a playwright as well as director. She was also known as an actress. Anna remembers her mother working as a play director and also attending rehearsals. Silk produced a number of commercials when she was a child. She earned a Bachelors in Arts from St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas staged two plays in the early years: Seven Menus & The Kitchen.
